The Bible holds very impactful teachings.
Teachings on Life and how to navigate every aspect of it.
Today, I draw my topic from the story of the tower of Babel.
Many, Many years ago in a land called Shinar.
The people from Babylon said to themselves and I quote
“Come, let us make bricks, and burn them thoroughly, Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower with its top in the heavens’’
Basically, they wanted to build a tower, so tall it could reach heaven.
Can you imagine that…
Very ambitious.
Look at these guys doing the most.
Why did they want to do this?
Well, Many reasons, however, regardless of the generation or the times.
One thing remains constant,
Clout!
CLout forever…..
One of their reasons was Clout, the Bible says that they wanted to get the Glory as the only city that could reach Heaven.
It also said they feared that they would be dispersed all around the earth as their population grew, amongst other reasons.
If anything I know is, Humans, we do not know how or when to stop,
The Goalpost is always shifting.
Once we get to Heaven, we would want to go in,
When we got in,
Curiosity would take over,
We would want to try something,
Get something different,
Experience something new,
We would want to do more… What is more?
Your best guess is mine.
Well, this ambitious bunch went to work building the tower of Babel.
God heard Men were trying to build a tower that reaches heaven.
He came down to see the city and the tower.
He said
“Look, they are one people, and they have all one language; and this is only the beginning of what they will do; nothing that they propose to do will not be impossible for them.
I need you to focus on this for a minute, Nothing they propose to do is impossible for them, this means despite how ambitious this project was, God knew that Man would have found a way to achieve it. Nothing was impossible for them, which means Nothing is impossible for us.
Us!!!!!
I mean you and me.
That my friend is the power we wield.
A mindset of Abundance
Further digging into this, the reason God was certain here was that the entire People of Babylon, spoke one Language, Spoke in one voice,
Herein lies the metaphor.
As long as they spoke in one voice, shared one vision.
Nothing was impossible for them.
What did God do to bring this project to a halt?
He caused them to all speak different Languages.
The Once united bunch, with one shared vision.
Lost it all due to confusion.
Confusion because they could no longer communicate with themselves.
I said all of that to say this.
Communication is the lifeline of any relationship. Work or Personal. Without it, the relationship will starve itself to death.
Simple Put, The art of communication is the language of leadership.
Once clear communication stops the Tower stops being built.
In personal relationships, Good communication is the foundation of a strong relationship. When you communicate effectively, you understand each other’s needs and feelings, and you work together to create a happy, fulfilling partnership.
That's not to say that communicating is easy,
Sometimes it is difficult,
Sometimes it is outright confrontational.
As Mr. Tunde, Patricia’s residing Therapist would say
Short-term conflicts for long-term understanding
In Business, your responsibility is to ensure that your goals, ambitions, and agenda are clearly spelled out.
Clear expectations = Clear Communications.
Every team member needs to know what is expected of them.
As team members, you should demand to know what is expected of you. What is Success and what does failure look like in your role?
Encourage Collaboration, Foster Teamwork, and Make sure everyone is on the same page and working towards the same goals.
Pursue, Some times while you’re working towards getting clear communications, you would have to pursue some team members, not everyone would agree with the ideologies, vision, etc, you have to pursue, to get everyone aligned and be ready to make some adjustments where necessary.
Provide feedback and be open to Feedback.
Encouraging Open Communication is a hack to get clear communication, ensuring that there is an environment where team members feel comfortable enough to share their thoughts.
As Team members, you should be able to share your thoughts. Effective communication is the key to any successful relationship.
The Moral of this story is, the most ambitious & Feasible Projects would fail without Clear Communication.
