First off, this is not my typical Post, this is an educational post on Web3.

I have and am fascinated by Web 3 and AI, especially the intersection of these two realities. I am knee-deep in WEB3 but still a beginner in AI, that been said tag me or DM me on anything AI and WEB 3

So, I recently stumbled on Soul-bound tokens and their potential use case. Imagine a world where you own your data, you control your Data, not Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, where you cannot be blocked out because you are fully in control and in ownership.

For example, I am writing this on Medium. One day Medium may choose to close down my account, why? because they can and they have control of my data. What if it was the other way around, and I give control to Medium to view my data, I can take control when and if I chose, and I can earn from the data I create. Ultimately if I get banned from Medium, my audience can come to me directly and have access to me.

In the case of Donald Trump, banned from all these social networks and he had to go build Truth. What if he was the truth himself and only went on Twitter to get certain features and reach a larger audience? What if each and everyone one of us were our own independent truths?
This would be a whole game changer and would disrupt the monetization model in the world today giving the power to you.
This is Web 3, my friends
This is true decentralization.

Now down to the technicalities and a very important piece of the puzzle. Have you ever wondered how you can prove your identity online in a decentralized way? Well, soulbound tokens (SBTs) might just be the answer. In this post, I’ll explain what soulbound tokens are and some of the amazing things you can do with them.

What are soulbound tokens?

Soulbound tokens are unique digital assets that are tied to an individual’s identity. Unlike other cryptocurrencies, SBTs cannot be transferred or sold to another person. This makes them a perfect tool for verifying someone’s identity online.

What can you do with soulbound tokens?

There are countless possibilities when it comes to using SBTs. Here are some examples:

  1. Social media identity verification: Social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook can often be a source of fake news and misinformation. With SBTs, you can verify the identity of users and make sure the information they spread is accurate and trustworthy.
  2. Job verification: You can use SBTs to verify the work experience of job applicants, making it easier for employers to assess their qualifications.
  3. Certified event attendance: You can use SBTs to verify attendance at events like conferences, workshops, and hackathons. Participants receive SBTs as proof of attendance, which can then be used to demonstrate their involvement in the event.
  4. Decentralized voting: SBTs can be used to enable reputation-based voting in decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs). This reduces the risk of Sybil attacks, where a single entity creates multiple fake identities to manipulate the outcome of a vote.
  5. Charity verification: You can use SBTs to verify the authenticity of charitable donations. A charity could issue SBTs to donors to prove that their contribution has gone directly to the intended recipient.
  6. Professional licenses: SBTs can be used to verify the authenticity of professional licenses, like those for doctors, lawyers, and engineers. This makes it easier for employers to verify the qualifications of job applicants and can also help prevent fraud.
  7. Digital collectibles: You can use SBTs to create digital collectibles that are unique and non-transferable, like CryptoPunks or Bored Ape Yacht Club. This adds an additional layer of authenticity and rarity to the collectible, making it more valuable to collectors.
  8. Decentralized identity verification: You can use SBTs to verify your identity in decentralized systems, allowing you to access services and applications without relying on centralized identity providers.
  9. Certifying research: You can use SBTs to certify the authenticity of research papers and other academic work. Researchers receive SBTs as proof of their work, which can then be used to demonstrate their expertise in a particular field.

In conclusion, soulbound tokens have the potential to change the way we think about digital assets and our online identity. By creating a decentralized and trustworthy system for managing social identity, soulbound tokens can help us build a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable future on the Web3.
